After pouring Kirstin's yummy Fauchon tea into three wonderfully eclectic teacups [errr... a metaphor for ourselves?], our first exercise was to write a list of words that described this adorably pompous teapot called The Queen of Hearts. We then each wrote a poem in under five minutes drawing on her name, appearance and the list of words for inspiration.
Or seven minutes for Mel, who's poetry manifesto is 'less words, more minutes'.

The Queen's Heart, by Melinda
Early morning blue
tints the royal sheets
The royal dress is buttoned while
the soft blue mountain sleeps
Fifty fingers fluff her collar
so stately and devine
yet, the royal blue nipple
will be his again tonight

Shelved, by Poncho & Petticoat
I'm full of it
Sweet, mysterious bantam
Laid out for all and sundry
Long gone eggs
and fickle crest
The warmth has abandoned the nest
Exposed now
Open-collared and picking moments to
rest between your lips
My tiny cat ear
hears your roaring boil
and comes, fragile to the coil
Sweet, mysterious bantam
Laid out for all and sundry
Long gone eggs
and fickle crest
The warmth has abandoned the nest
Exposed now
Open-collared and picking moments to
rest between your lips
My tiny cat ear
hears your roaring boil
and comes, fragile to the coil
